Review: igigi upstairs cafe!

Along the Hustle and bustle of Western Road Brighton lies a hidden cafe igigi on the top floor of a furniture and home accessories store. Discovered this cafe by chance, as at a glance it actually looks like a shop, but the upstairs always looked so busy that decided to go in, and then went again, again and again!!

I really could not fault this place, a real must have for Breakfast or afternoon tea. I know they do lunch, but have enjoyed the other stuff so much that havent got round to trying the lunch, but I'm sure it wont disappoint.

Walk in to a "beige and neutral toned" furniture shop, attention to detail, it's a beautiful shop to have a stroll into, every day they put outside the shop fresh flowers, plants, like a vintage market fair to invite you in. Up the beautiful staircase lies a hidden cafe that can be incredibly quiet and then get really busy all of a sudden.

May I just clarify I have visited igigi on various occasions and the photos are from different days, no I do NOT order all of this on same day!! (Although, if I could I would haha).

First the whole ambience of the place, continuing the theme of the store, beige and clean colours is the main colour palate. Giving a Shabby chic style.

Various pine communal tables scattered over an open plan kitchen/cafe.

Breakfast time!

On the Menu today we have a couple of things from a few visits.

  • The Breakfast Loaf. So Yummy. Served with honey and Yogurt. Includes a Coffee and this board for £6,50.

The bread baskets. A fan of the carbs. This platter is served for one or two people, and you can choose your toppings.

The attention to detail I can't really stress how important it is here, all the dishes are served with berries, coulis, icing powder, Physalis, everything carefully scattered by the friendly waitresses who make you feel most welcome.

This is the hot chocolate (£3.50) with a difference! A warm mug of frothy milk with a block of Belgian chocolate on a stick for you to dunk and for it to melt in the milk.

In the background a cheeky slice of Coffee and Walnut cake.

And last but not least the Breakfast Eggy Soldiers!!

Oh my, what a choice, no doubt I will be back.

A must visit on Western Road,

Hope you enjoy,

Beaching it again +Review: Cafe Coho

Dear all, Ive been on the hunt for more favourite breakfasts, today reviewing a small Cafe in the South Lanes of Brighton, Cafe Coho!

Heard good things about this cafe so decided to give it a go, so far so good, picked a nice spot upstairs by the window, there is also outside seating and the downstairs so plenty of room!

DSC_0236

A good selection of cakes and bakes to chose from, but opted for a cooked breakkie!

It has a rustic friendly feel.

By the time we had decided what to order there was a lot of people in the coffee shop, we were told the orders would take 15-20 minutes to come though. So we waited... and waited... and waited... and first the cofees came!

And after around 40 minutes (that by then our coffees were cold and gone) we received our orders, with no apology for the time waited, but the food was so yummy and we were so hungry by then that we forgave them momentarily!

On the menu this fine morning...

  • PAN CAKES WITH NUTELLA AND BANANA

  • EGGS BENEDICT WITH MUSHROOMS AND SUNBLUSHED TOMATOES

  • SCRAMBLED EGGS ON TOAST WITH CRISPY BACON

Can't really fault the food, it was all delicious, but the staff obviously weren't prepared for busy Brighton which is wierd as they aren't a new cafe, anyway, would probable re-visit if I saw it wasnt too busy!

Off for a quick walk along the sunny beach, soak up the sun  and wear in my new Liberty Vans!

Talking about the sun, did you know I was talking to someone the other day that had been told by her GP that there was an increase in Rickets Disease due to the amount of SPF we wear nowadays, interesting eh?

Anyway, ta ta for now, have a nice week everyone!

The day the sun shone in August

After the nice month we had in July, the UKs August has been a little dissapointing, but last week we did have a nice day, so time to wander the streets!!

Breakfast at Bills is always a good way to start! Hidden just of the North Lanes lies a "barn stile Bills". It was early Sunday morning and Brighton was still asleep, but through the big glass doors lied a buzing atmosphere where we were quickly greeted and seated.

We ordered a Bread Basket (great value at £3.95) that comes with granary toast, mini pan au chocolat & mini croissants, with a selection of jams and marmalades, yum !

Also the well known Eggs Benedict actually served with ham instead of Bacon which I quite liked! (£7.35).

And of course the old cappuccinos!

Great atmosphere, great service and a well recommended place for breakfast, want to try the blueberry muffins next!!

Onwards and upwards, a stroll along the seaside, such a nice day!!

On to one of the great findings of summer, really got in to drinking iced coffees, and whenever there is one on the menu Ill have to try. Came across this small interior cafe with outside seating area, Bite, in Market Street in the South Lanes, a lovely cafe to sit and have a drink.

And with these great (not so calorie counting) Iced Coffees with whipped cream for £2.65 will definitely be going back for the scrummy caffeine fix!
